Hansel and Gretel In Raymertown

May 1, 2009 By eastwickpress

The Highlight Acting Troupe will be presenting Hansel and Gretel written by Lillian and Robert Masters. The legend begins in the woodcutter’s cottage. Lack of food has driven the stepmother to cruelty. When she comes home to find the children with their playmates pretending to have a fair she chases the children and Mr. White Cat from the house. Then she persuades the father to take Hansel and Gretel into the forest and leave them. Lost in the forest Hansel and Gretel come upon Witch Wicked’s candy house with its fence of gingerbread children. The two children outwit Witch Wicked and are reunited with their father. The stepmother casts off her spell of cruelty, and they all go home laden with baskets of jewels.
