After several postponements, the HFCS Bowling Team held its brunch banquet at Barbecue Recreation Saturday morning, April 25. One of those date changes was so Coach Bob Lang could accompany tenth grader Joey Wolfrum to the State tournament where Joey bowled on the Section II team.
Honors
Coach told the team and their parents, “Wayne Magisano was a great friend, coach and contributor to the school bowling program for many years. He is the reason we are still having such great seasons.” When Wayne passed away his parents, Joe and Gayle Magisano, established the Wayne Magisano Memorial Bowling Award. The award honors a team bowler for his or her improvement in the game during their years on the team, their good work ethic to improve their game, always trying hard whether bowling good or bad, showing a great attitude and being a fine example to the rest of the team. “These attributes are characteristics that Wayne tried to instill in all the bowlers he instructed over the years. The team would like to thank you for establishing this award so that he will never be forgotten.” He presented the Magisanos with an appreciation plaque. The Magisano award is presented at the Booster Club End of Year Banquet and at Graduation.
Pat Morandi will also receive a plaque for maintaining a graduation award for the bowling team in memory of George “Gid” Cuddihy. Part of Pat’s donation is used to send youngsters to bowling camp.
Also recognized and praised for their support to the team were volunteer Assistant Coach and Statistician Dick Weeden and parents Walt and Mary Callahan and Chuck and Kay Pelletier.
The entire team expressed appreciation to Jack and Linda Fitzsimmons of Barbecue Recreation for all their support over the past 11 years.
In addition to the team winning the Sectional Championship, individual players Corey Callahan, Joey Wolfrum, Jake Colliano and Justin Carter were voted to the First Team All Stars for the Adirondack League. Jake also had the High Game of 300 for the entire League. Danielle Pelletier and Mitchell Andrew were voted to the Second Team All Stars.

Coach Lang couldn’t pick one bowler since so many had such a great year, and so he chose to name four Players of the Year – Danielle Pelletier, Corey Callahan, Jake Colliano and Joey Wolfrum.

Rookie of the Year – Mitchell Andrew

The Tink Foster, Sr. Memorial Most Valuable Player Award, as voted by team members, was presented to Corey Callahan.
All team members received certificates, season booklets, team patches and pictures. Coach recognized each bowler and his or her accomplishments. Eighth-graders recognized were Josh Conn, Logan Brogue and Bryan Callahan, ninth grade – Jordon Colvin, Mikaela Marbot and Cody LaFlamme, tenth grade – James Lynch, eleventh grade – Peter O’Neil and Patrick Mulvihll, twelfth grade – Brett Sargent, Justin Carter, Danielle Pelletier, Corey Callahan.
Coach thanked the parents and grandparents for their year long support, for organizing the banquet and for the big part they play in the bowling program.
In turn, team Co-Captains Danielle Pelletier and Corey Callahan presented Coach Lang with a gift from the team wrapped with several elastic bands. He knew what it was immediately. For the last few years the 35 mm camera he has been using has been held together with elastic bands. The team has brought him into the 21st century with a new digital camera.
