Hoagy Carmichael Program In Petersburgh

May 15, 2009 By eastwickpress

You Gotta Hear This! presents “Our Community Sings” at the Petersburgh Veterans Memorial Community Center on Friday, May 22, at 7 pm. Admission is $5, $8 per couple and $10 for a family.
The program will feature classic hit songs of Hoagy Carmichael (“Georgia on My Mind,” “Skylark,” “Heart and Soul”), a fun sing-along section (“God Bless America,” “Oh What a Beautiful Mornin’,” “Do Re Mi,” “Puff the Magic Dragon”) and some great tunes by Harold Arlen, including favorites from the Wizard of Oz.
Local professionals and student performers will combine to make this an unforgettable evening of family entertainment. Musicians include Jan Burnett, piano, David Banulis, bass, Glen Hueckle, sax and flute, and Jeff McRae, drums. Baritone Steven Marking will be joined in song by Sarah Burdge, Liz Hill, Melissa Dawes, Ingrid Schaaphok, Lindsay Cave and Sarah McNally.
This project is made possible in part through a COMMUNITY ART$GRANT, a program funded by The Arts Center of the Capital Region through the State and Local Partnership Program of the New York State Council on the Arts, a State Agency.
For information, call Steven Marking at 424-1089 or visit www.YouGottaHearThis.org.
