Jessie B. Stuart

Stephentown – Jessie Brownell Stuart, 80, of NY Route 22, Stephentown, NY, died on Monday morning, May 25, 2009, at her home after a long illness.
Born January 7, 1929, in Groveside, NY, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Sadie LeBarron Brownell. She was the loving wife of Elmer M. Stuart, whom she married on January 25, 1958, in the Seventh Day Baptist Church of Berlin, NY.
A 1947 graduate of the Walter A. Wood Memorial High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, Jessie worked odd jobs until her marriage in 1958. She became a homemaker and helped her husband with their businesses. She was a founding member of the United Sabbath Keepers of Stephentown.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years Elmer, her children, Carole A. Stuart of Lanesboro, MA, and Alan L. Stuart of Stephentown, her grandchildren, Sara and husband Joshua Sutherlin of Oregon and Rebecca and Matthew Wilson of the State of Washington, her great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Josephine Sutherlin, her siblings, Paul Clark and his wife Edna Brownell of Cambridge, NY, Irene and her husband Arlie Greene of Center Berlin, NY, and Wesley and his wife Helen Brownell of West Hoosick, NY, a sister-in-law, Muriel Brownell of Cambridge, along with many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Gordon Brownell, and a sister, Pauline Swart.
Graveside services for Jessie will be held on Saturday, May 30, at 2 pm in the Cemetery of the Evergreens, Cemetery Road, New Lebanon, where Rev. Dale Hall will officiate. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home of Stephentown.
