For their final road game of the regular season, the Berlin baseball team traveled to Waterford to take on the Central Hudson Valley League’s top team. Waterford, needing just one win to clinch the league title, had already handled the Mountaineers with ease earlier in the season.
With two outs in the bottom of the first inning, the Fordians strung together a walk, a single and then a long

home run over the fence in left center to take a 3-0 lead. They added another run in the second inning to take a 4-0 lead. In the third inning, they batted around the line up, scoring four more runs, taking an 8-0 lead.
Berlin’s Fred Morine led off the fourth inning with a single, and then Eric Remington hit a home run to finally put the Mountaineers on the scoreboard. In the fourth inning, Waterford continued to pour on the runs, scoring two more. In the fifth inning, Berlin allowed four more runs, including two on another long homer. The final score of the game was 14-2.
Morine was 2-3 with two singles and a run scored. Remington was 1-3 with his two-run home run. The Mountaineers collected just four hits as Waterford clinched their second consecutive CHVL title.
