Stephentown Vol. Fire Dept. Mother’s Day Breakfast

May 1, 2009 By eastwickpress

Here it is the beginning of May, the flowers are beginning to bloom, grass is turning green, and Mother’s Day is a week away.  The Mother’s Day holiday in the United States and Canada celebrates motherhood generally and the positive contributions of mothers to society. It falls on the second Sunday of each May. It is the result of a campaign by Anne Marie Jarvis (1864ą1948), who, following the death of her mother on May 9, 1905, devoted her life to establishing Mother’s Day as a national, and later an international, holiday. The first observances of both Mother’s Day and Father’s Day were held in the state of West Virginia.

Last year the Stephentown Vol. Fire Dept. held its first breakfast to honor Mother’s Day.  Next Sunday, May 10, we will host our second Mother’s Day breakfast at the Fire Hall on Grange Hall Road from 8 to 11 am.  Our featured breakfast will be scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage, bacon and toast. We are holding the same prices as last year – adults $7, children 6-12 $5 and children under 6 eat for free.  Bring your mom and enjoy a morning out.
