Theresa Wirmusky

Hoosick Falls – Theresa (Terry) Wirmusky, 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 21, 2009, at home on Snow Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Walter S. Wirmusky who died on December 9, 1984.
Born on January 31, 1931, in New Brunswick, NJ, Terry was the daughter of the late Sam and Angie (Motto) Farrara. She graduated from Hoosick Falls High School. Terry worked at various occupations including Office Manager at the former Wood Flong/Lydall Company in Hoosick Falls. Terry was very active volunteering at St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls where she was an Honorary Alumna. She was also a member of the Elks Auxiliary and very involved with the club activities. Terry enjoyed entertaining family and friends at her home, playing cards and bingo and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include daughters, Meg Coutinho and husband Alan of Cincinnati, OH, Helen Laroche and fiancé Mike O’Neil of Queensbury, NY, Mary Surdam and husband Mark of Hoosick Falls and Karen Poulin and husband Michael of Northville, NY, a brother, Joe Farrara and wife Lu of Venice, FL, a sister, Fran Markey and husband Joe of Northport, FL, grandchildren, Mike, Joe and Jim Coutinho, Michael and Matthew Laroche, John and Kristin Surdam and Mary-Kate, Mikey and Sam Poulin, as well as four great-grandchildren. Terry is pre-deceased by a sister, Margo Liporace.
Funeral services were Saturday, May 23, at 10:15 am from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at 11 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street. Burial followed the Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.
Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Rensselaer County Community Hospice or the Karen McGovern Memorial fund through the funeral home.
