Workshop Scholarships For Historic Timber Frame Construction And Restoration

Full-tuition scholarships valued at $1,100 each are available for a two week workshop to be held at Mount Lebanon Shaker Village, a National Historic Landmark in New Lebanon, from August 3 to 13. The scholarships are offered by the Shaker Museum and Library in conjunction with the World Monuments Fund. The workshop will be under the direction of the North Bennet Street School, Boston.

Workshop participants will construct a new timber frame structure using traditional techniques and tools and will participate in the restoration and repair of the wooden members of the 1829 Brethren’s Workshop, the oldest structure remaining at the North Family.

North Bennet Street School, founded in 1885, offers one of the nation’s most respected programs in preservation carpentry. Participants will receive a certificate of completion from the school.
