Donald H. Cottrell

Bennington – Donald H. “Tuffy” Cottrell, 73, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, VT.
Born on January 28, 1936, in Bennington, Donald was the son of the late Edward and Helen (Taylor) Cottrell. He attended schools in Bennington. Donald was a truck driver for Johnson Controls in Bennington and the Schanno Company in St. Paul, MN. He enjoyed gardening and NASCAR racing. He was a Dale Earnhardt fan and a former member of the Moose Lodge in Bennington.
Survivors include his daughters, Sherry Cross and husband Mert of Eagle Bridge, NY, and Karen Cross and husband Wayne of Dallas, GA, a son, Donald Cottrell and wife Trish of Clifton Park, NY, a sister, Barbara Cottrell of Ballston Lake, NY, and brothers, Floyd Cottrell of Walloomsac, NY, and Ike Cottrell of Glens Falls, NY. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Brad O’Brien, Shawn and Craig Cross, Cortney Baggett, Brandon McCart, and D.J. and Austin Cottrell, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Donald was pre-deceased by a son, Gregory Cottrell, and two brothers, George and Fred Cottrell.
Funeral services were Saturday, June 20, at 10 am from the Mahar Funeral home, 43 Main Street, in Hoosick Falls, NY. Burial followed the service at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Friday from 5 to 8 pm.
