The National Trails Day event at Grafton Lakes State Park on Saturday, June 6, had an excellent turnout with over 100 participants for the second year in a row. Volunteers cleaned up litter, cleared debris, put up new trail markers and improved drainage and terrain on many of the Park’s trails.
Trailwork support came from a broad range of outdoor and recreation organizations. Participating groups included the Grafton Trailblazers, Grafton Trail Riders, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Mohawk-Hudson Cycling Club, Taconic Hiking Club, Student Conservation Association, Grafton Elementary School PTO, Friends of Grafton Lakes State Park and a strong group of other supportive community members. The hardworking volunteers ranged in age from 1 to early 80s.
The Park would also like to thank all the businesses that donated toward making the event a success including Price Chopper, Brunswick Barbeque and Brew, Walmart, Paine and Son, Hannaford, Edelmann Sales, Sam’s Club, Guiseppe’s Restaurant, Adirondack Sports and Fitness magazine and Dunkin Donuts.
