The New Lebanon Book Group has changed the venue for its June 7 discussion of The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears by Dinaw Mengestu. The discussion will be held at 11 am at The New Lebanon Library, 550 Route #22, New Lebanon. As originally planned, the book will also be discussed on Thursday, June 25, at 7 pm at The New Lebanon Library.
A New York Times Notable Book and winner of the 2007 Guardian First book Award, the novel concerns Sepha Stephanos, who fled the Ethiopian Revolution 17 years ago for a new start in the United States and now finds himself running a failing grocery store in a poor African-American section of Washington, D.C., his only companions two fellow African immigrants who share his bitter nostalgia and longing for his home continent.
