June 5, 2009 By eastwickpress

Rensselaer County Executive Kathleen M. Jimino has announced the release of the County’s Quadricentennial Calendar of events celebrating the 400th anniversary of the voyages of Henry Hudson and Samuel de Champlain, as well as the 200th Anniversary of Robert Fulton’s maiden journey up the Hudson River on the first successful steamboat.
“Rensselaer County has played a significant role throughout our region and our nation’s history,” said Rensselaer County Executive Kathleen M. Crailo site in the City of Rensselaer, to a reading of William Kennedy works at the Sand Lake Center for the Arts, as well as the County sponsored Living History Days taking place on July 11th and 12th.”
A host of events are scheduled throughout Rensselaer County to celebrate the Quadricentennial including the Blessing of the Fleet on June 13 at the Albany Yacht Club located at 75 Broadway in the City of Rensselaer at 12:30 pm.
