Samantha Merwin Named HFCS Valedictorian

Samantha Merwin, daughter of Michael and Margaret Merwin of Hoosick Falls, NY, is this year’s Valedictorian of the Class of 2009 at Hoosick Falls Junior/Senior High School. Samantha has a grade point average of 98.97.
Samantha was inducted into the National Honor Society during her sophomore year and she has been an active member for three years. Samantha was the recipient of the RPI Medal for outstanding achievement in math and science and also the University of Rochester Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award. She was named a National Merit Scholarship Commended Student, and she is an active member of the Drama Club, Student Council and Yearbook Club.
Samantha has played softball and field hockey for the past four years. She has been a volunteer in our community for the past several years, and she  has been awarded a New York State Academic Excellence scholarship.  Samantha will be attending Boston College in the fall of 2009.  Congratulations Samantha!
