Florence M. Perkins

July 17, 2009 By eastwickpress

Petersburgh – Florence M. Perkins, 89, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2009, at the Hoosick Falls Health Center in Hoosick Falls, NY, of natural causes. Born in Schenectady, NY, on July 3, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Florence Sayles DeSacia. Raised and educated in Schenectady, she had been a longtime resident of Petersburgh, NY.
During her working career, she had worked as a waitress in many local taverns and restaurants and was known for her pleasant, outgoing personality and always drawing business wherever she worked. Later in life she became employed in the Battery Division of Union Carbide in Bennington, VT, and retired in 1981 after 18 years of service to enjoy her home and all her wonderful friends and neighbors. She was a gracious person who will be truly missed and fondly remembered by many local residents whom she touched throughout her life.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Jean of Little Falls, NY, siblings, Betty Hyatt and Ed DeSacia, and her special friends, William and Kelley Greene, William and Phyllis Knutter, Shirley Carroll, Lucinda Seror and Chris Gates and girls. Florence was pre-deceased by a sister, Jeannie, who died as a young child.
At Florence’s request, and in keeping with her wishes, there will be no public services. Arrangements are under the directions of the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, Petersburgh.
