Hoosick Grange News

July 17, 2009 By eastwickpress

Hoosick Grange started with an open meeting. David Schmidt was in charge of the Lecturer’s program. David introduced the Rensselaer County Dairy Princess, Patricia Lamb. Patricia started out her speech with a question, “Have you had your 3 a day (milk, cheese, yogurt)?” In the United States 85% of girls and 60% of guys are not meeting their recommended calcium intake. Half of all women don’t drink one glass a day. One .5 million American men already suffer from osteoporosis and 3.5 million are at risk to develop it. Osteoporosis is starting earlier and earlier. Drinking only three 8 ounce glasses of milk a day will help you achieve your optimal calcium intake. Calcium is the super nutrient. Milk is one of the most natural and inexpensive ways to give your body the vitamins and minerals it needs. Milk is the State’s leading agricultural product. Every body needs milk. Patricia and her assistants made a delicious milk punch. Everyone thanked Patricia for the punch and for coming to Grange. She answered questions. The refreshment committee served pie and ice cream to all our guests.
After refreshments the Grange worked on planning the fair booth. Our next meeting is Wednesday, July 22. Kendal Baker is in charge of the program. Helen Filkins is in charge of refreshments.
