On Wednesday afternoon, June 30, Edith Craig Reynolds Foundation Board Members Norma Brenenstuhl, Armand Rousseau and Bill Shiland, Sr. presented a check for $5,000 to Kathy Bugbee, Director of the Hoosick Falls Senior Center, for the purchase of several pieces of At Your Pace fitness equipment. The equipment is in place on the lower level of the Center, along with bocce ball and shuffle board games. The equipment is open to all seniors, 60 and over, at no cost. “We’re excited to offer this opportunity to seniors to exercise more,” said Bugbee. There is a voluntary contribution box set up near the sign-in sheet. Any funds received will be used to improve the exercise area. Senior Center Office Assistant Julie Colvin is a certified At Your Pace trainer and can show men and women unfamiliar with the equipment how to use it properly. The only requirement to use the equipment is to sign in, preferably with a buddy. Proper use of the equipment requires completing three cycles of all the apparatus and rest stops for a total of 25 minutes. The equipment is available whenever the Center is open. Center hours are 9 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday, except holidays.
The Edith Craig Reynolds Foundation regularly contributes to community endeavors in the Hoosick area. According to an article from the Louis Miller Museum, Rev. Reynolds, a native of Walworth, England, became pastor of the First Baptist Church in Hoosick in 1925. She married Marcus T. Reynolds in 1928. She became a benefactor for many organizations over the years. She was a major contributor toward the Community Pool and the Skating Rink. Upon her death in 1971 a fund was established that awards four-year scholarships to students in Rensselaer County. That same year the Reynolds Foundation was formed to provide funds annually to local organizations.
