Robert William Harris Sr.

Petersburgh – Robert William Harris Sr., 72, died suddenly on Saturday, July 11, 2009, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. He had resided on Church Hollow Road in Petersburgh, NY, with his wife Clarice.
Born on January 5, 1937, in North Adams, MA, Robert was the son of the late Edward L. and Eldora (Gellinas) Harris. He attended schools in North Adams and was a former member of the National Guard. Robert worked in the construction business and did various types of woodworking. He enjoyed hunting, camping and the outdoors.
Survivors other than his wife Clarice include a daughter, Darlene Denue and husband Robert of Bennington, sons, Robert W. Harris Jr. of Mechanicville, NY, Timothy Harris of Hoosick, NY, and Michael Harris of Petersburgh, a sister, Hazel Mullens of Schuylerville, NY, and a brother, Harold Harris and wife Leona of Stephentown, NY. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by a son, David, a sister, Virginia, and a brother, Edward.
Graveside services are Thursday, July 16, at 1 pm in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Route 7, Pownal, VT. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shaftsbury Animal Shelter through the funeral home.
