Susan M. VanOrman

Grafton – Susan M. (Wescott) VanOrman, 43, a lifelong resident of Grafton, NY, died suddenly Friday, July 17, 2009, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY, after being stricken at her residence.
Born in Troy, April 10, 1966, Susan is the beloved wife of 24 years of Kirk E. VanOrman Sr. of Grafton and the daughter of Chester and Gail (Wagar) Wescott Jr., also of Grafton. Susan was a graduate of Berlin High School, class of 1983.
For over eleven years she was a newspaper carrier for The Record, delivering the morning paper on several area routes including Brunswick, Grafton and Poestenkill. More recently she has been a homemaker, caring for her three beautiful children and home.
She was a member of the Grafton Baptist Church and in her quiet time enjoyed making crafts, attending craft fairs, spending time visiting with family and friends and playing with her dog Minnie.
In addition to her husband and parents, Susan is survived by her three children, Justin L. VanOrman, Kimberly A. VanOrman and Bryan L. VanOrman, all of Grafton, a brother, Terry Wescott of Grafton, several aunts, uncles and cousins whom she loved very much. An infant son, the late Kirk E. VanOrman Jr., pre-deceased her.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 21, at 10 am at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY Route 7 in Raymertown, NY, with Rev. William O’Dell officiating. Burial followed in Eagle Mills Cemetery. Family and friends called at the funeral home on Monday, July 20, from 5 to 8 pm.
At the family’s request, memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Grafton Baptist Church, Grafton, NY, 12082, in loving memory of Susan M. VanOrman.
