“Harvest Moon Under the Stars” Dinner Event

August 28, 2009 By eastwickpress

The Hoosick Falls Health Center Foundation and MentorWorks, Hoosick’s mentoring program, are teaming up to present a fabulous celebration of the area’s bountiful harvest. This unique dining event will be part of the first Hoosick Pumpkinpalooza, a family friendly, community festival set for the last weekend of September.
“Harvest Moon Under the Stars” will be held in the Reynolds-Gilchrest Rink at the Town Athletic Fields on the evening of Saturday, September 26. The rink will be transformed into an elegant “outdoor” venue with crisp white linens awash in the glow of starlight and the fiery orange harvest moon. The gourmet dinner will feature foods grown or produced within a 100 mile radius of Hoosick Falls, all prepared masterfully to bring out their freshness and flavor. Each course will be served family style and paired with a chef-selected wine. Music for dancing will be provided until 11 pm, and, as is fitting at a Hoosick Falls Health Center Foundation event, a fabulous collection of auction items will be available for silent and live bidding.
Invitations were mailed the third week of August, however, anyone is welcome to attend. To be added to the mailing list, send an email to contact@hoosickyouth.org or call the Youth Center at 518-686-9050. Reservations must be made by September 14. Tickets are limited.
The principal sponsor for the event so far is Stewart’s Ice Cream Company. Table sponsors include Cambridge Valley Machining Inc., Sternberg & Gorman, Marshall & Sterling Insurance and Trustco Bank. Additional sponsors for the event are welcome. Contact Joyce Davis at 518-686-0221.
Proceeds from “Harvest Moon Under the Stars” will benefit both the Hoosick Falls Health Center and MentorWorks, making it a truly inter-generational event.
The Hoosick Falls Health Center is an 82-bed skilled nursing facility with a glowing reputation for providing excellent, local, family-centered care in a home-style setting. MentorWorks, housed in the Hoosick Falls Youth & Community Center, supports Hoosick Falls students in grades 4-8 by providing them with caring mentors to assist them in developing their strengths and talents.
Pumpkinpalooza is a Pride & Tradition initiative organized by the Hoosick Area Partnership for Parents & Youth (HAPPY). Sponsors for the festival so far include the Vermont Veteran’s Home (T-shirt sponsor), WCW, Inc. (punkin’ chunkin’ sponsor) and HAPPY (overall event sponsor). For details on other available sponsorships and the festival itself, contact Beth Dillard at 518-686-9050 or e-mail contact@hoosickyouth.org.
