Carleton Sprague Sr.

Eagle Bridge – Carleton Sprague Sr., 84, died Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, VT. He had resided on the Turnpike Road in Eagle Bridge, NY, and was the husband of the late Doris (Eddy) Sprague.
Born on October 14, 1924, in North Hoosick, NY, Carleton was the son of the late Joseph and Cora (Brown) Sprague. He was educated at schools in the Town of Hoosick, NY, and was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during World War II in the European Theater. He worked as an electrician and a plumber for several years and later as a rural mail carrier for thirty years. Carleton was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Rural Letter Carrier Association and the Methodist Church in Eagle Bridge.
Survivors include his daughter, Donna Sprague of Bennington, son Carleton Sprague Jr., of Bennington, son-in-law John Harrington of White Creek, NY, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his daughter, JoAnne Harrington, and his brothers, Donald, Douglas, Duane, Joseph, Malcolm, Ensign, Everett and James Sprague.
Funeral services were Saturday, August 22, at 11 am from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 to 11 am. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Karen McGovern Memorial Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association through the funeral home.
