Tuesday, January 27, 1852: John F. went to the vendue of Gillett Goodrich deceased and today Geo P. went to Troy.
Wednesday: Tonight Geo P. returned from Troy, he bought himself 500 pounds plaster and clover and timothy seed, and I paid 5 dollars and seventy cents for one bushel clover seed that he got for me.
Thursday: Today my children went to Temperance meeting to the Baptist Church.
Friday: I this day took my horse and cutter and carried a load of ears of corn for Geo P. to Joseph Adams Mill in New Lebanon and while the corn was grinding I rode to Frederick Everett’s store, I reckoned with him all our accounts and dealings and I found that I owed him one dollar and ninety cents and I paid him the cash and took a receit, and I carried a bag of pulled wool to said Everett’s but he would not buy it and I fetched it home again.
Saturday: I am unwell with a cold and lame in my feet where my feet had been frozen. Today Geo P. hired an Irishman that lives in Wm B. Maxon’s house to pull the wool from three dead sheep and is to pay him in turnips. Today quite blustering and snow squally.
Monday, Feb. 2: Today Geo P. sold a pair four year old oxen to Frederick Russel and took his note for eighty dollars on interest for sixty days.
Wednesday: Today John F. took Geo P. horse and cutter and rode out onto the Fairbanks lot, he sold a few turnips on the way.
Thursday: Today I chopped wood in my Rodgers swamp and John F. drew two loads wood home with his ox team. This afternoon Geo P. took his horse and cutter and carried his two sisters to Joshua B. Maxon’s and left them on a visit and then rode to Lebanon and got two dozen pair cotton overhalls to Gay’s store for our women to make at five cts a pair or 60 cts a dozen pair and take store pay and this evening Geo P. rode over to said Maxon’s and fetched his two sisters home.
Friday: I chopped wood in my Rodgers swamp and John F. drew home two loads with his ox team and we got home by two o’clock. This afternoon and evening Mr. Eber Moffitt and wife and son Hosea Moffitt and Mr. Guy Moffitt and wife and the widow Anna Moffitt all visited to my house.
Wednesday, Feb. 11: Today quite a thaw and rainy. I sawed and split wood in the wood house and put up my new rail fence that was blown down on the line joining the widow Wylie’s meadow. Tonight at sundown Geo P. returned home from Hoosic collecting money for apple trees and engaging more trees.
