The book discussion group of the Grafton Community Library will meet Wednesday, August 26, at 1 pm at the Library. It will be discussing The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows.
This fictional book is set on the channel island of Guernsey during World War Two. In January of 1946 Writer Juliet Ashton received a letter from a stranger, the founding member of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. And so begins a remarkable tale of the island during the German occupation and the extraordinary society. The letters in this poignant book – part Jane Austen, part history lesson – aren’t addressed to you but are meant for you.
Copies of the book are available at the Library. Everyone is welcome to attend the discussion. For more information, please call 279-0580.
