Harriet Stevens

North Hoosick – Harriet Stevens, 78, died Thursday, August 6, 2009, at her residence on Telford Road in North Hoosick, NY, where she had resided for almost sixty years. She was pre-deceased by her husband Thelman Stevens, who died February 14, 1980, as well as, John “Jack” (Goober) Leonard, her love of twenty years, who died on October 20, 1999.
Born on November 13, 1930, in Albany, NY, Harriet was the daughter of the late Arthur and May Adriance. She was educated at schools in Albany and worked with Jack operating Goobers in Hoosick Falls, NY. Harriet enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, mowing her three lawns, caring for her feline companion, Moses, and her weekly church service.
Survivors include her five daughters, Connie Stevens of Marlborough, MA, Pam Lawton, Bonnie O’Malley, Patty LaPorte and husband Ken and Susan Loveland and husband Kevin, all of Hoosick Falls, sisters, Gladys and Anna Mae of Rensselaer, NY, nine grandchildren, Rachel Gauthier, Michael Marcoux Jr., Jessica LaPorte, Alyssa Stevens, Jenna O’Malley, Joshua Stevens, Ethan Loveland, Rebecca LaPorte and Dana O’Malley, five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Kyle, Jacob, Colin and Chase, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Monday, August 10, at 9:15 am from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at 10 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial followed the Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.
Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Second Chance Animal Shelter or the American Diabetes Society through the funeral home.
