Leslie Surdam From SVC With High Honors

Leslie Surdam of Hoosick, a member of Alpha Chi, graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Southern Vermont College this May. She also won the Distinguished Tutor of the Year Award and the President’s Award at Southern Vermont College’s Honors Convocation this spring.
Surdam also received the Edward H. Everett Award at commencement. She was named to the Provost List at Southern Vermont College which recognizes full-time students who have earned a minimum grade point average of 3.25 during the spring semester.
Surdam was captain of the women’s soccer team in 2007 and 2008. In April at the Southern Vermont College Athletic Banquet she received the Most Valuable Player Award, Mountaineer Scholar Athlete of the Year and also made the NECC Academic All-Conference list. Surdam was one of roughly 30 student-athletes across the county nominated for NCAA Sportswoman of the Year Award.
Surdam worked in admissions, volunteered for the SVC student run newspaper (Everett Edition) and tutored peer led study groups in her spare time. She also volunteered as the U16 Girls Soccer Assistant Coach for SVM Fusion Club team in Manchester, VT, this spring.
Surdam is a graduate of Hoosick Falls Central High School and the daughter of Deborah and Leo Surdam of Hoosick Falls.
