Mary Atwood

Hoosick Falls – Mary Atwood, 86, died Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at Memorial Hospital in Albany, NY. She formerly resided on Rensselaer Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, and was the wife of the late Raymond Atwood, who died in 2002.
Born on August 1, 1923, in Mechanicville, NY, Mary was the daughter of the late John and Crencenza (Romanelli) Notro. She was educated at schools in Mechanicville and was employed at the Hoosick Falls High School for many years. Mary was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Lou Goyette of Colonie, NY, her son, Raymond Atwood of Albany, NY, and her sister, Jennie Lawyer of Mechanicville. She is also survived by five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mary is pre-deceased by two sisters, Lucy Lembo and Josephine Notro, and three brothers, Dominick, James and John Notro.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, August 8, at 10 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the Mass in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Mechanicville. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
