New Dock At Peebles Island S. P.

August 7, 2009 By eastwickpress

Peebles Island State Park has installed a new canoe and kayak dock on the Hudson River near the park pavilion.  This was possible, in part, because of a grant from the Hudson River Valley Greenway. The new docks are twenty feet long with a thirty foot ramp and allow paddlers easy access to Peebles Island from the water. Paddlers will now be able to utilize the island’s picnic tables, grills, restrooms, Visitor’s Center and beautiful 3-mile nature trail system.
Peebles Island State Park, located at the confluence of the Mohawk and Hudson Rivers between Cohoes and Waterford, is open daily from 7 am to dusk.  A $6 vehicle use fee is charged on weekends and holidays, 8 am to 4:30 pm, from May to Columbus Day.  The Visitor’s Center is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm.
For more information or for directions to Peebles Island State Park, please contact the Park Office at 518-237-7000 ext. 220. For more information about New York State Parks, please visit our website at www.nysparks.com.
