Robert C. Koronas Sr.

Hoosick – Robert C. Koronas Sr., 66, died Thursday, August 13, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY. He resided on Fog Hill Road in Hoosick, NY, with his wife Stella.
Born on August 23, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY, Robert was the son of the late Peter and Bertha (Zinn) Koronas. He was educated at schools in Brooklyn and worked for the N.Y.C. Sanitation Department for several years before moving to this area. Robert served in the United States Army. He was a chef, “Chef Robare,” at the Adirondack Gateway Resorts Camp Grounds. He enjoyed working on classic cars, cooking and traveling with friends in Florida.
Survivors other than his wife, Stella, include his daughter, Caroline S. Cooney of Cambridge, NY, his son, Robert V. Koronas and wife Melissa of Hoosick Falls, NY, his brother, William Koronas of Perry, NY, three grandchildren, Brandon K. Cooney, Renee Koronas and Casey Betit, two great-grandchildren, Megan and Ryan Marcoux, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by three sisters, Marilyn Pope, Jenny Whitmore and Helen Lebritti, and two brothers, George and Thomas Koronas.
Funeral services were Monday, August 17, at 9:15 am from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at 10 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial followed the Mass at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.
Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Treatment Center at the Samaritan Hospital through the funeral home.
