Stephentown Beauty In The American Miss New York Pageant

August 28, 2009 By eastwickpress

Katlyn Marie Willis, daughter of James Willis and Katharine Willis, qualified as a finalist in the 2009 Miss New York Teen Pageant held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Rochester, NY, August 22 through August 24. During the three days of the Pageant, a panel of experienced judges will score the contestants in the following categories: Formal Wear (30%), Personal Introduction (30%), Interview (30%) and Community Involvement (10%).
“Katy,” as she is known, is a 2009 Regents Diploma graduate of Berlin Central High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society. While in high School, she participated in sports and was captain of the basketball team, was very involved in the Chorus and Senior Chorus groups and was active in FCCLA and community projects. During her senior year, she did an internship through Berlin High School involving physical therapy education and learning with the Troy Physical Therapy Associate’s Group of Schenectady. Katlyn currently is working three part time jobs, at Gardner’s Ice Cream Shop in Stephentown, as front desk receptionist at The Country Inn at Jiminy Peak in Hancock, MA, and as a telephone receptionist at Pittsfield Lawn & Tractor in Pittsfield, MA.
Local businesses, family members and friends helped to sponsor Katlyn, so that she could attend this wonderful pageant for young women.
Katlyn will start college in the fall at Hudson Valley Community College for two years and then continue her education elsewhere with a goal toward graduating with a degree in medicine as either a pediatrician or a physical therapist.
