Taconic Valley Historical Society To Discuss Gladioli In Berlin

The topic of discussion for the next meeting of the Taconic Valley Historical Society will be the growing of gladioli in the Little Hoosic Valley. The program will start with The Apple Tree Girl, a silent film taken in the valley in 1917, showing many of the gladioli fields in bloom. Following the film will be an explanation by Don Calman of the beds of gladioli planned along Route 22 in the village of Berlin to beautify the village during August when the flowers will be

in bloom. The meeting will take place on Monday, August 17, at 7:30 pm at the Berlin United Methodist Church on South Main Street. Everyone is welcome for this view into Berlin’s history with the gladioli and for a glimpse into its future. Come with your questions and your comments.
