William Brown, III graduated from Hoosick Falls Central School in 2000. He received his undergraduate degree from Houghton College in Western New York. He majored in Biology with minors in Spanish, Psychology and Chemistry. Brown went to St. George’s University in Grenada obtaining a Master’s in tropical medicine and then his MD. He will be doing his residency first in Brooklyn, NY, at Elmhurst Hospital for a year of internal medicine and then for three years at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx in Emergency Medicine.

During high school Brown attended the National Youth Leadership Forum in Medicine. He later worked in the Emergency Department at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT, as an Emergency Room Technician. He volunteered for the Hoosick Falls Rescue Squad where the squad members gave him the nickname “Doc.” He also worked for a time for the Bennington Rescue Squad. Brown has done volunteer mission work in the Dominican Republic at Villa Ascencion near Puerto Plata. It was there that he implemented his Master’s thesis for tropical medicine documenting the rate of parasitic infection among varying control groups.
