Brunswick Community Library Grand Opening

On September 26 Kathy Jimino, Rensselaer County Executive, will get the first library card at the Grand Opening of the new Brunswick Community Library.
After years of searching for the best site; securing grants, private and corporate donations; and completing renovations, the new Brunswick Community Library will open its doors to the community at 10 am on September 26.  The new Library will quadruple the square footage of the current library with room for expansion in the future. The Library promises to excite imaginations and encourage lifelong learning with the offering of expanded technology, increased services and cultural programs for all ages plus public meeting space and improved parking and access. The Library is located at 4118 Rt. 2.
At 10 am during the Ribbon Cutting with elected officials and campaign leaders Kathy Jimino gets the first library card. Family fun day runs from 10 am to 4 pm with Pumpkin decorating, refreshments and crafts for kids.
The schedule for children’s authors (in children’s area and yard outside) is 10 am to 12 pm – Bruce Hiscock – Book illustration demonstration, 11 am – Karen Beil – Jack’s House, Moooove Over  (Pre-K), 11 am –  Daniel Hayes – The Trouble with Lemons (middle school), 11 am – Rose  Kent – Kimchi and Calimari (nominated for the Charlotte Award), 12 to 2 pm – Thomas Styles – Racing the Rope  (3rd -6th grade)
The schedule for adult authors (in community room) is 10 am to 12 pm – Judith Schwartz – The Therapist’s New Clothes, 12 to 2 pm – Linda Ford – A Field Guide to the Wildflowers of Mexico’s Copper Canyon Region, 2 to 4 pm Richard Matturo – Leslie, Luna.
At 1 pm Ruth Pelham of the Music Mobile leads a community sing-a-long.
September is get your library card month, and now you can get your card at the new Brunswick Community Library with free backpacks for the first 12 kids to get a new card.
