Hoosick Falls – Dennis A. Bornt, 67, of Cummings Street, Hoosick Falls, NY, died on Tuesday morning, September 8, 2009, at home surrounded by his loving family under the care of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.
Born in Hoosick Falls on February 7, 1942, he was the son of the late Ronald William and Margaret E. Adriance Bornt. Dennis was the loving husband of the former Ann Marie Hayes, whom he married on March 3, 1962.
A 1961 graduate of Hoosick Falls Central High School, Dennis served in the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge in 1965. He attended St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, where as a young man was an altar server. He worked as the Superintendent for the Maple Grove Cemetery for many years. Dennis was also employed in the transportation department of the Hoosick Falls Central School District for 24 years retiring in June of 2008. Mr. Bornt served the Town of Hoosick Little League as President, coach and manager, American Legion Baseball and Kiwanis Baseball Team. He also served the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad, where he was President for two years. Dennis also served the Village of Hoosick Falls and Town of Hoosick as Justice. He was a former member of the Rensselaer County and New York State Magistrates Association. Dennis was an avid New York Yankee and New York Giant fan.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Ann Marie Bornt, his children, Kent F.W. and wife Linda Bornt of Hendersonville, TN, Kari M. Bornt of Latham, NY, and Scott A. and wife Fay Bornt of Hoosick Falls, siblings, Michael W. and wife Patricia Bornt of North Hoosick, NY, Linda and husband Curtis Minkler of Walloomsac, NY, grandchildren, Matthew, Corey and Mackensie Bornt and Justin and Staci McCullough, aunts, Caroline Bornt, Anna May Ruchosky and Gladys Adriance of Albany, NY, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services are on Friday at 11 am in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Main Street, Hoosick Falls, where the Burial Office will be read by Rev. Lorrie Lyons. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to the Robson-Reinfurt Funeral Home, 72 Main Street, Hoosick Falls on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm for visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Karen McGovern Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
