Enjoy a guided tour of the historic Knickerbocker Mansion followed by an authentic Colonial dinner on Saturday, September 19. Dinner will include raspberry soup, breads, chicken orange, Peter Kalm’s cabbage salad, wild rice, sweet potato casserole, cranberry jelly and dessert of cream of currant pudding, apple torte or apple pie and beverages. It will be served by members of the Knickerbocker Historical Society dressed in colonial garb.
The tour, which begins at 4:30 pm, includes the Mansion, reliving folklore and a wander through the Knickerbocker Cemetery, if desired. Dinner will follow at 6 pm.
Built by Johannes and Elizabeth Knickerbocker in the 1780s the Knickerbocker Mansion is the most significant historic building in upper Rensselaer County. It is located in a fertile valley of the Hoosic River known for centuries as the “Vale of Peace” and is situated at the junction of the Tomhannock Creek and the Hoosic and Hudson rivers, 132 Knickerbocker Road, just off State Route 67 midway between Schaghticoke and Mechanicville.
