Join Rensselaer County Executive Kathy Jimino and The Friends of the Dyken Pond Center for some cake and ice cream on Saturday, September 12, as they celebrate the Center’s acquisition of 23 acres of land for the purposes of preservation, education and recreation. The parcel, known as Otter Cove, extends the Center’s ability to teach lake ecology dynamics and preserves many environmentally sensitive assets on the land itself. The lakeshore parcel will feature a hiking trail and factor prominently into the Center’s educational programming.
The land acquisition is the result of an extensive fund raising effort by the Friends of the Dyken Pond Center to raise public awareness to the importance of the ecological sensitivity of this area and to solicit community support towards its protection. Guided tours of the parcel and kids activities will be available, and canoes and kayaks will also be available to view the parcel by water.
Please call the Center at 518-658-2055 for further details.
