New Hydrants On River Road

September 4, 2009 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson
By the end of September there will be seven working fire hydrants on River Road. That is a far cry from the two that previously covered the same length of road. New fire hydrants will also replace old hydrants on Mechanic, Davis and Wall Streets, Liberty and Hovey Avenues and Scott, School and Martin Streets. All of Clay Hill will have better water service and fire protection.
Hoosick Falls Water Department Head Jim Hurlburt said that in addition to the new and replacement hydrants in Clay Hill a new dry hydrant on the corner of Church and Mechanic Streets will make it easier for Fire Departments to pump water from the Hoosic River. There will be new valves on Main and Church Streets, and the hydrant on the island at the intersection of Main and Church Streets will be replaced.
