The New Lebanon Library has received a $1,000 grant from the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation through the Foundation’s Fund for Columbia County. The purpose of the grant is to support the development of multicultural programs appropriate for all age groups. According to Library Director Jeannie Bogino, it will help “achieve the Library’s mission of providing opportunities for lifelong learning and personal and professional enrichment for people of all ages.”
The following are among the programs that will be funded by this grant:
• November 2009: Eileen Stelljes, Spooky New York. Recount of classic New York legends such as “Rip Van Winkle” and “The Headless Horseman” as well as other strange, ghostly tales of the Hudson Valley. Presented in 18th Century attire and by lantern light.
• December 2009: John and Sondra Bromka, Christmas Musical Folk Traditions from Around the World. A celebration of Christmas in many lands.
• March 2010: Diane Edgecomb, Irish Shenanigans. An animated re-telling of classic Irish favorites.
