Rensselaer Land Trust Hike At Barberville Falls Preserve

September 18, 2009 By eastwickpress

On Sunday, September 26, at 9 am, the Rensselaer Land Trust is sponsoring a hike at The Nature Conservancy’s Barberville Falls Preserve in Poestenkill, Rensselaer County. We’ll hike along the Ridge Trail, a total of about 2.5 miles. The trail loops along the ridge through the beautiful forest of the Rensselaer Plateau, crosses Davitt Pond Brook and descends to the bank of the Poesten Kill before ascending to the starting point. After the hike, all are welcome to eat lunch while viewing the spectacular 92-foot Barberville Falls.
Wear hiking boots or sturdy walking shoes, and dress for the weather. Meet at the Poestenkill Town Hall/Town Library parking lot, Route 351 just north of Route 355. For further information, contact Nick Conrad at 518-279-1963 or nbconrad@msn.com.
RLT offers this hike as part of the Tenth Annual Hudson River Valley Ramble.  Nearly 300 events will take place from Saratoga County and the Capital Region to New York City on weekends in September.  The Ramble is sponsored annually by the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area, Hudson River Valley Greenway and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s Hudson River Estuary Program, in conjunction with National Estuaries Day. For a complete listing of events, visit www.hudsonrivervalley.com/ramble or call 800-453-6665. The Ramble brochure is one of the most comprehensive regional recreational guides and can be used as a reference throughout the year.
