On Monday, September 28, the Lady Mountaineers traveled to Loudonville Christian. The girls varsity didn’t waste any time scoring with Maria Gordon and Emily Dooley both putting one away in the first half. The game was one-sided for most of the first half with Berlin taking shot after shot on the Loudonville Christian goal. The Lady Mountaineers out-hustled and beat the other team to all the goal kicks which helped lead them to success. Loudonville Christian tried to get to the Berlin goal but because of the Mountaineers defense and midfield, they had no luck. Erin Berschwinger had an epic shot on goal and just missed ending the half with the Berlin girls up 2-0.

With the second half about to start the girls ran back on the field with a cry to “rub some dirt in it!” At the beginning of the second half it was clear that the Lady Mountaineers had gotten a little too comfortable with their 2-0 lead and let their opponents take control of the game. Loudonville Christian got a shot off and scored. The Mountaineers woke up, and the game started getting physical. Emily Dooley, Maria Gordon and Rachel Ferris started to make the goalie work with numerous shots on goal. None of them could seem to get a shot to sneak in. That’s when Deanna Nash received a pass from Emily Dooley and slammed a low shot into the corner out of the goalie’s reach. The game exploded with energy with just minutes left as both teams fought to win. It seemed as if the game would end with Berlin up 3-1 until Loudonville Christian snuck down the field and scored the last goal of the game. It wasn’t enough to give Loudonville the win, and Berlin walked off the field with a 3-2 win over their foes. This game increased their record to 5 wins with just 2 losses.
