Since the early 1990s only one school other than Berlin or New Lebanon has claimed a Central Hudson Valley League soccer title. That happened two years ago when Loudonville Christian claimed the championship. This year Loudonville is again considered one of the top teams, along with Berlin and Waterford. Waterford has already knocked off both Berlin and Loudonville, claiming its spot at the top of the standings. On Friday, the Eagles traveled to Berlin to take on the Mountaineers to see who would take over second place.

The Mountaineers, without regular goalie Shawn Willis in the goal, battled the Eagles valiantly in the first half. Sakan Sadowsky took over in the net and held his own against the high scoring Loudonville squad. The game was scoreless until Loudonville scored on a corner kick with 26:10 left in the first half. After halftime, they stretched their lead less than a minute in. Eight minutes later they scored again and added the final goal just a few minutes later. The Mountaineers fought hard to come back and at least get on the board, but the Eagles defense would not allow them to score. The final score was 4-0. Sadowsky had 7 saves in the net for Berlin.
