Grafton Lakes State Park Offers Public Programs In October

Grafton Lakes State Park offers a variety of public programs in October. Throughout the month, patrons can enjoy a pre-k program, astronomy night, learning the art of map and compass and our Second Annual Trick or Treat Nature Trail.
October 6
On Tuesday, October 6, the Park naturalists will offer a Fall Wonders for Wee Naturalists program at 10 am at Shaver Nature Center, 194 Shaver Pond Rd. Open to pre-k children, the program will have an Autumn-themed nature craft and an outdoor explore for little legs. Price is $2 per child or $5 per family. Space is limited so please call 279-1155 to pre-register.
October 10
The Albany Area Astronomers (AAA) will host a star watch on Saturday, October 10, at 7 pm at Long Pond beach. Visitors can enjoy a guided tour of the night sky through telescopes provided by AAA. There is no charge for this program. Weather may cancel, so call Bernard at 658-9144 to confirm.
October 17
On Saturday, October 17, Beginners’ Orienteering will teach participants the art of map and compass on our beautiful course off of Long Pond from 10 am to 12 pm. Space is limited, so please call 279-1155 to pre-register.
October 23
Get ready for some magic and maybe a bit of fright on our Trick or Treat Nature Trail on Friday, October 23, from 5 to 7 pm. Please bring young children from 5 to 6 pm because we’ll get spookier as the evening goes on. Tricks and treats for all, guaranteed! The cost is $2 per child or $5 per family. Call for details.
Please note that vehicle user fees are $6 per car on weekends only through Columbus Day. For more information about upcoming programs or for directions to the park, please contact Grafton Lakes State Park at 518-279-1155.
