The book discussion group of the Grafton Community Library will be reading and discussing Plum Wine by Angela Davis Gardner for its October meeting on Wednesday, October 28, at 1 pm at the Library.
Homemade plum wine wrapped in elegantly inscribed rice paper fill a tansu chest. Inherited by a young American teaching at Tokyo University, the treasure unravels the mysteries of life following the bombing of Hiroshima and the hidden world of the hibakusha, survivors of the bombing. Angela Davis Gardner is an internationally acclaimed author who has won nearly thirty wards for writing and teaching. She spent time teaching at Tsunda College in Tokyo which inspired the novel Plum Wine.
