Hoosick Grange News

Hoosick Grange met on October 14 with Master David Cornell. At the last meeting the Grange members had worked on planning meetings for the year. On this night the members present were given the new program books. The Master conducted the business meeting.
After business was done, they had the Lecturer’s program. It was poetry night and members could recite a poem or read one. Elsie Marpe recited “In The Garden.” Marion Brenenstuhl read a poem, “Falling Leaves.” Mary Marpe had a poem titled “I Expect To Go Through This Life Once.” Martha Babbitt read “A Prayer.” Omer Brenenstuhl read “Almost Autumn.” Marion Cipperly read “Thank God I’m A Country Girl.” David Schmidt had a poem, “Cactus Jack.” David Cornell read “My Country Home Place.” Carleton Philpott read “The Truth Hurts.” Norma Brenenstuhl read “The Night Before Christmas.” Corinne Philpott had a number of jokes given to her. She had a poem titled “Smiles,” also a reading, “My $18 Slice of Pie” and “The Long Tailed Cat.” She wrote a poem to the song of “Inky Dinky Parlez-vous” on how to protect yourself from catching the cold or flu. They sang it two times. They had a game Ring Toss, and David Schmidt won. David was also in charge of delicious refreshments.
At our next meeting on October 28, Charles Filkins is in charge of the program. Marion and Omer Brenenstuhl are in charge of refreshments.
