Wednesday, May 5, 1852: I spread manure on the Maxon farm for Geo P. on his potato ground and James Runnals and Irish Daniel plowed on said ground and John F. and Hiram Runnals planted 2/3 of a day on John F. potatoes and old Mr. Perkins planted all day on John F. potatoes. We did not pay him, and John F. and Hiram planted a spell on Geo P.’s potatoes. Today Geo P. returned home from Hoosic selling trees. He bought and fetched home ten bushels of June potatoes and Edward Leonard came home with Geo P. to work for him one month at ten dollars, and this evening John F. rode to the Shakers to see if they wanted onions and more carrots. They do not.
Thursday: I and the Irishman Daniel worked in Geo P. nursery scrubbing up trees and burning up the brush. This afternoon I sowed oats for Geo P. on the Maxon farm and old Mr. Perkins planted potatoes for Geo P. on said Maxon farm
Friday, May 14: Today James Runnals worked for me on my Rodgers farm helping plow and harrowing and getting out manure and for the pay John F. let him have one bushel of June potatoes. John Merrils worked nearly half a day and then had the headache. Today Geo P. lent Appolas Rollo four hundred dollars and took his note on interest.
Monday: I mended fence on my Rodgers farm. Some rainy towards night. Daniel ditched in the meadow and this afternoon he harrowed for Geo P. on the Maxon farm. Today John F. went to Pittsfield with one horse wagon and carried 17 bushels of grafted apples and sold them at one dollar and fifty cents per bushel excepting a few split or small ones. I sent by John F. and bought 39 pounds nails at three and a half cents per pound.
Tuesday: I planted corn on my Rodgers farm and John F. and Irishman Daniel manured corn in the hill. Today Geo P. plowed, harrowed, and planted on the Maxon farm and had Edwin Leonard and old Mr. Perkins help him.
Thursday: I tended to drawing hog manure onto my Rodgers Farm and John F. drew manure and tended to planted corn on said farm and Irish Daniel worked with us. At noon John Merrils planted corn for me on said farm and he is to have 44cts for the same. Today Geo P. and Edwin and old Mr. Perkins worked in his cornfields and James Runnals works which pays for the use of John F. oxen.
