New Bottle Recycling Shed At The Stephentown Landfill

October 9, 2009 By eastwickpress

Girl Scout Troop 1452 of Stephentown, under the leadership of Roxanne Iwanicki and Amy Barnum, in conjunction with the Stephentown Historical Society have constructed a new shed at the transfer station in order to store deposit bottles and cans.  Both organizations use the proceeds to help defray the cost of operating and have been collecting and hauling the containers to Averill Park to redeem them.  The new shed will allow pick up in Stephentown. Both organizations will have to sort and make sure everything is clean and bagged.
Everyone depositing “returnable” bottles at the landfill is requested to bring their bottles inside and place them in the appropriately marked containers.  Bottles already in cardboard containers can be placed on the side. Both organizations wish to thank everyone who takes the time to recycle and supports both groups by doing so.
