BCS Chili Cook-Off Winners

November 27, 2009 By eastwickpress

by Erin Hogan
On November 14 the BCS 2010 senior class held a chili cook-off. This fund raiser was open to anyone in the public wishing to share their chili with the community and try to win a $50 gift card for having the best chili.
This reporter had a chance to try all 12 chilies, which ranged from sweet and spicy all the way to noodle-y and beany. After the public had its chance to test the chili, they voted on the best chili by paper ballot. Surprisingly, there was a tie! The chili made by Mrs. Guimarra, the schools’ copy room lady, tied with Laura Dooley. They were both delicious. Dooley’s chili was made with homemade maple syrup and Guimarra’s was made with venison.
About 60 people from the community showed up, and the event grossed $153 for the senior class trip to Virginia Beach in the spring. Congratulations to both winners and thanks to everyone who participated in the chili cook-off.
