Joseph J. Bachorz

Hoosick Falls – Joseph J. Bachorz, 89, died very peacefully on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at his residence on High Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. He had resided there with his wife of forty-one years Judy (Lackey) Bachorz. They were married on March 16, 1968.
Born on April 25, 1920, in Hoosick Falls Joe was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Swainska) Bachorz. He attended school in Hoosick Falls and entered the Army in 1946 serving until 1949. Joe then worked at the Pownal (VT) Tannery for thirty-five years. He enjoyed working around his home, traveling and spending time with his family.ob-bachorz
He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post # 6340 in Grafton, NY, also the American Legion Post # 40, St. Stanislaw Society and the Eagles Aerie # 2467, all in Hoosick Falls. Joe had a dog named Pepper that he enjoyed very much, but when pepper died it hurt Joe very much.
Survivors, other than his wife Judy, include his son, William Bachorz and wife Heather and their children Joshua and Hope of Newport News, VA, two stepgrandchildren, Dennis and Toni Lescota of Newport News, VA, his mother-in-law, Dorothy Lackey of Hoosick Falls, two sisters, Anne Yurewitch and Florence Matatt, his brother Fred Bachorz and sister-in-law Carolyn Bachorz, all of Hoosick Falls, and his brother-in-law Gary Lackey and wife Leslie of Wildwood, FL. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Joe is pre-deceased by five sisters, Margie Hearns, Mary Chapones, Jane Durkin, Helen Angermund and Betty Jordan, and three brothers, Francis, Michael and Albert Bachorz.
Funeral services are Friday, November 6, at 11 am from the First Baptist Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial with Military Honors will follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Relatives and friends may call at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Hoosick Falls Fire Department or the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad through the funeral home.
Judy would like to thank their friends, Sandy Libby Smallwood, Evangeline Brenenstuhl, Irv and Shirley Mason and Janice Malo, for all the help and care they have given to Joe and the family.
