Hoosick Falls Goes To Final Four

by Bea Peterson
On Saturday, November 14, the Hoosick Falls Field Hockey team traveled to the Hudson Valley Sports Complex in Milton, NY and played against Pine Plains in The Dome. “During the first half our team came out strong and took multiple shots,” said Coach Denise Campbell, “but the Pine Plains defense did a tremendous job of keeping us scoreless.”

“Our defense wasn’t really tested until the second half when Pine Plains received five straight corners,” Coach said. “Once again our defense was a wall. Andrea Niles had three defensive saves, Frankie [Pearson] had only three saves.” This was her 14th shutout on the season. “Amanda Vitro, Emily Hoag and Marissa Davendonis all did great jobs on defense. While our midfield of Karley Morin, Rachel Quackenbush, Carsen Williams and Marissa Davendonis kept the ball out of our circle for most of the game.”
Coach Campbell continued, “Offensively the front line struggled with the Pine Plains defense, but the girls didn’t give up and they never got frustrated; they found a way to win.”
Winning Goal
“Our goal was picture perfect,” the Coach said. “Melody Mentiply received the ball in the middle of the field and passed it to the top of the circle where Samantha Skott shot it past the Pine Plains goalie.”
“The last three minutes the intensity stepped up and Pine Plains had one last surge of energy, but our defense was able to clear it out of our circle without a corner being called.”
