Mark Wilmot Revet

November 20, 2009 By eastwickpress

Eagle Bridge – Mark Wilmot Revet, 58, of Eagle Bridge, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday November 4, 2009, as a result of an aviation accident in Tallahassee, FL.
Born in Milford, CT, on November 7, 1950, Mark was a graduate of Eastern Connecticut State University with a B.A. in Marine Biology. Early in his career, he worked as a pharmaceutical representative and at Cooper Cilco specializing in opthalmics. Later he became regional manager for the Amex Long Term Care division in Troy, NY.  Mark was a national trainer for a Fortune 100 company and was the guest lecturer for numerous seminars on long term care.  Together with his wife Lisa, they built a long-term care agency eventually covering five states. He was also the author of numerous articles for magazines and periodicals and hosted a radio program on WBTN in Bennington, VT, specializing in questions about long-term care.  Having a love for airplanes and flying since he was a child, his dream was finally realized when he took his first flying lesson in 1997.  He quickly earned his pilot’s license, then added his instrument rating, commercial pilot’s license and his multi-engine rating over the years, finally receiving his CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) rating. In 2000, Mark joined the Angel Flight organization, whose sole purpose is flying patients with medical conditions to hospitals out of their area and home again. In 2005, he founded the local chapter of the Aviation Explorer group, encouraging young people to consider a career in aviation.  One of the highlights of this experience was getting permission from Congress for his group of kids to fly on a C-130 transport plane.
Mark’s passion for life, family and community were very broad.  He enjoyed part time farming and raising Percherons, scuba diving and fencing and was an avid skier, taking great pride in teaching his wife, daughter and son how to ski. He served on numerous public boards including Leonard Hospital (St. Mary’s) in Troy, The Hoosick Falls Health Center Foundation, the HooRWA (Hoosick River Watershed Association) and HAPPY (Hoosick Area Partnership for Parents and Youth).
Mark is survived by his wife, Lisa of Eagle Bridge, and his two children, Kimberly of Hoosick, NY, and Zach of Eagle Bridge. He is also survived by his mother, Shirley Peterson of Plattsburg, NY, and a sister, Sherry Revet of Malone, NY.
A service for Mark will be held at 10 am on Saturday, November 21, at the Cambridge Flying Club, Chapin Field (1B8), on 177 Plains Road, in Cambridge, followed by a 10:30 am to 12 pm gathering at the Cambridge Inn (Rice Mansion) on Main Street in Cambridge, NY.
Friends and family wishing to make a donation in memory of Mark may choose to donate to the Hoosick Falls Health Center Foundation, the Hoosick River Watershed Association, the Hoosick Falls Soccer Club, The Aviation Explorers Scholarship Program or the “Angel Flight” program.
