Medicine In Colonial America

The Hancock Historical Commission’s 20th Annual Gathering will feature museum educator and re-enactor Stuart W. Lehman presenting a program on the art and science of medicine as it was practiced in Colonial America.
Discover the techniques and therapies of the 18th century, including bloodletting, trephining, blistering, purging and the use of medicinal leeches. In period dress, Lehman, a researcher for the New York State Office of General Services, will bring a hands-on living history exhibit of the herbs, medicines and implements used in the Colonial Period.
The program will take place November 15 at 2 pm at the Hancock Central School on Rte. 43 in Hancock, MA. All are encouraged to attend this event which is free and open to the public.
