Michael G. MacDonald

Petersburgh/Berlin – Michael G. MacDonald, 74, of Owego, NY, passed away suddenly from illness at home on Wednesday, October 28, 2009.
Michael was born in Brookline, MA, but he and his sisters, Margaret and Katherine, lived in Petersburgh and Berlin, NY, in their early years. Michael went to Berlin High School in the building that now serves as the elementary school, graduating in 1953. He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Sue Lewis, a BHS graduate of 1957. His younger sisters went to the Stillman Village School, located on the corner of Stillman Village Road and Puckatoot Road in Petersburgh. Michael retired from IBM Owego after 34 years, was the 2nd Assistant Chief for the Apalachin Fire Department with over 30 years of volunteer service, enjoyed working for State Line Auto Auction for over 17 years and loved NASCAR and deep sea fishing.
Michael is survived by his children, Deborah and husband Michael Murray of Syracuse, NY, Scott and wife Jennifer MacDonald of Eugene, OR, Dale and wife Diane MacDonald of Raleigh, NC, Chris MacDonald of Florida, and Susan and husband Ben Fassett of Binghamton, NY, his sisters, Margaret Fearnley of Norwood, MA, and Katherine and husband Tom Cahill of Canton, MA, and ten grandchildren. Michael was pre-deceased by his parents, Michael and Catherine Grant MacDonald, and his son, Michael MacDonald.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, October 30, 2009, at 12 pm at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Owego, with Rev. William Moorby officiating. Burial followed in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
